We are turning the corner on our weather
and the transition to fall is
happening now. Water temps are at 60 degrees
and dropping with the cool
nights. We have had a number of cold fronts
move through the area this last
week and it has made the bite difficult.
Walleyes have moved shallow now and the
weed-line has changed with the start of the
weed die off. Big minnows
are the main diet now. Northern pike are
very active in the weeds. Muskie
action has been great on Big Detroit. Bass
are after big plastics now. Check
the tops of the flats in the strong winds.
Hot bass action on Long, Floyd
and Cotton. Smallmouth are starting to put
the fall feedbag on now also.
Check Island and Cormorant for smallie
action. Walleye tournaments will be held
on White Earth the 15th and 16th and on
Cormorant on the 21st & 22nd so plan
accordingly. We are getting close to
turnover so we will try to update when that
takes place. It takes a couple of days for
the bite to straighten out after turnover
and then you will want to look to deep water
and sharp break lines for the walleyes. We
have lots of fronts and high winds this
time of year so pay attention to the weather
and be safe.
