Dick Beardsley Fishing Report

Has it been hot! One of the warmest summers I can
remember! The surface temps are now in the low 80's. I've never seen it that warm before up in this neck of the woods. There has been a shallow water walleye bite going on Big Detroit Lake. Find some flats next to deepwater and a jig and minnow has been producing! There have been a few eyes coming off of Island and Shell Lake on jigs and minnows, otherwise the walleye bite has been slow. Large gills are coming out of deepwater on Lindy Rigs and crawlers or leeches. Lake Melissa has been turning out some decent northerns on jigs and minnows along the deep weedlines. Remember, any pike 24" or longer must be returned immediately back to the water! The bass fishing continues excellent in deepwater on plastics. Please remember to practice selective harvesting, by doing so we will continue to have great fishing for years to come!
