  • Feeding Characteristics: Active feeding generally occurs during early morning and in late afternoon, or in the evening. Locate smallmouths around points, fallen trees, and rocky bottoms. Most smallmouths willl stay in the shall ows because most of their food is found there.
  • Angling Methods: All kinds of tackle can be used, from fly-fishing, spinning, or baitcasting. Smallmouths priMarchy diet consists of small fish, insects, frogs, and worms. If crayfish are present, they are certain to be the small mouth's favorite food. Crankbaits, jigs, surface lures, spinners and plastic worms will all work with smallmouth. The best live bait for smallmouth would be crayfish, worms, minnows, and frogs.
