- Average Weight: 1 to 5 pounds
- Preferred Water
Temperature: 54 to 63 degrees Fahrenheit
- Location -
Entire United States except far south.
- Feeding Characteristics: Active feeding generally
occurs during daylight and at night when they search water areas providing
insects and small fish. Locate loosely grouped Rainbow trout in moving water,
variable depth, hard bottom areas of lakes and streams by working sunken
weedbeds, submerged islands, sunken logs and undercut banks.
- Angling Methods: In clear water, they will take
small spoons, spinners or plugs. Work at or near the bottom in streams or at a
preferred water temperature level in lakes using a slow, irregular retrieve or
slow troll. In less clear waters, use minnows, worms, insects, or salmon eggs.
